BOOOOO! It’s Monday. 17

Happy Halloween, folks! If you know even a >tiny< bit about me, then you should know this is the best day ever for me. Why? CANDY. And lots of it. My sweet tooth is already making feel good moves. Be thinking of your favorite candy and keep it in mind for the end of the post.

So anyway, back to this Monday Update thing. Last week I was working on Rough Ride. If all went well, I turned that in on Sunday. Or I’m about to today. I’m writing this up early, so we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m hoping I got that finished, because if I did, I’m moving on to Rough Play. It’s second in my Roughneck series and I loves it much. Jacob and Flora are agreeing to a little no-strings-attached-lovin’. This story is turning out a smiiiidge more sexy than the others, but these two are pretty happy in their no-strings agreement. I’m going to have to shake that up a bit or that’s going to get old. At least writing it will.

I have a release coming up! Check out Chasing Her Trail. It’s number 6 in my Apple Trail series and will probably start popping up for sale sometime later this week. Watch my twitter stream for the lastest deets on that.

He bent and pressed his mouth to her back, kissed over her shoulders and licked the new chills covering her. Rain pelted the plastic, wind shook the outside. Scents of cool, clean and crisp air coated her skin and they were trapped for the length of this summer, late afternoon storm. And she was all his.

All. His.

He shouldn’t. This wasn’t his goal or future. He was supposed to be looking at a woman for the long haul. He stroked his finger down the sweep of her spine. He wasn’t supposed to be appreciating the turn of her lower back, the swells of her ass or how she twitched under his light touch.

Shouldn’t be caring that when he dropped the back of his hand down her inner thigh, she arched and moaned. That her legs parted and her sweet center opened for the tips of his fingers to smear the wetness waiting his entrance. The scent of her sex curled through the air, overpowered the rain and drowned him around her body and what he’d like to do with it.

Blondes have more fun? Pfft. Bad Girls have more fun. Rebecca Gabel was accused of being a bad girl and she discovered life was easier (and more fun!) to live up to the reputation than try to deny it. But now with a new comer who’s taking her up on her suggestions, Rebecca is a little out of her element. There’s talking the talk…and then there’s having to walk it.

Grant Iverson recently inherited land from his mother, so he’s arrived in Apple Trail, Arkansas to check the place out and see if there are any treasures hidden there. What he doesn’t expect to find is a woman full of curves and a mouth of pure sin, but whose eyes reflect nothing but curious innocence.

Pie. that’s hot 0

this is basically a tweet that got too long…again. When I wrote this part in, I thought it was the hero who loved pie….now I’m not so sure who loves it more.

“Cherry? Lemon, lime, banana, coconut cream?” She looked down, her lips twisted and she bit at her lower one. “Um, sweet potato. Pumpkin, oh my God, I can’t wait for fall so I can make fresh pumpkin pie. It’s just creamy and sweet. Spiced like Christmas and smooth like cheesecake.”

Lane’s tongue was thick in his mouth as she talked. Her eyes were glazed as she went on about different kinds of pies and their “full bodied” tastes.

“Ohh, yeah.” Her lips were parted, cheeks pink.

There was a good chance she just had an orgasm on his couch talking about pie. He cleared his throat, needing to get away from that topic. Far, far away. “Ever met a pie you don’t like?”

“Pecan.”

“That’s got to be un-American.”

Her eyes squeezed shut. “I know. But they’re so crunchy. They should be bars, not pie.”

Love love love this book! Oh, Tiffany and Mike just set my keyboard on fire while writing them! As I wrote this story, I was continually taken back to when I wrote Through The Wall. Both of these novellas seemlying wrote themselves with very little trouble and the tension between the two characters are just OFF. THE. CHARTS. ….in my opinion, anyway :)

He never loses control and she always tests the rules.

Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail. No one gives him more trouble than a certain blonde. While her stunts are frustrating to deal with, it’s the constant way she keeps him trapped in knots.

Tiffany McBride has a reputation for being a trouble maker. She’s been betting and causing trouble since her parents died when she was a teenager. What looks like a young woman sowing her oats, it’s actually desperate measures to gamble for extra money to put food on the table.

When these two acknowledge their attraction, sparks fly…that is if Mike’s public position can survive Tiffany’s frowned upon reputation.

I’m gonna die happy. 1

…and in love with a huge girl crush right now that might include a feel up when I see her in a few weeks *wink*. I tell you, it was tough to just find a one sentence snippet of this review, so I didn’t. I took a whole paragraph, wanted to take it all, but I managed to contain myself. Just barely.

I think the reason I connect with Keri’s work is because it FEELS real. It feels like someplace I’ve been before. When I read a Keri Ford book I just…feel. I feel love, annoyance, sadness. I laugh. A lot. The full array. I experience the sensations with the characters. I’m there with them. Keri’s writing is realistic, right down to her characters Googling sex acts. I find that this type of experience doesn’t happen often for me. In most books it feels like a movie in my head. I can see, hear and smell…but not feel. It’s nice to experience the difference with Keri’s work.

I’ve mentioned several times that In The Hay was my favorite of the Apple Trail series and that I just adore the heroine and was terrifed I wouldn’t be able to get her on the page right. In the days before the release, I was still working on Nicolette and worrying and all but chewing the tips of my fingers off she wasn’t going to come across right.

Another chick I would like to hug and cop a sneak attack feel on is Rebecca Wolfe over at Beck’s Book Picks.

One reason I love Keri’s work so much is that you get a short novella to read but it reads like a 400 page book. She writes so well and you get so involved in her story. This book was no exception. … I  was drawn to Nicolette as a character. I wanted to take her under my wing and show her the ways. Drew felt the same way and I think he just let her experience life and let her make decisions.

Getting Nicolette’s character right was one of the toughest writing challenges I’ve ever had to face and I didn’t do it alone. I thanked them in the book, but am again giving a shout out to critique partner KJ Reed and my editor Jacquie Daher for all their hard work in getting this story turned in what it became.

In The Hay is the third novella in the Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas series. It may be part of a series, but this novella stands all on it’s own and is available in eformat for $1.99. If you’re new to the series, but don’t like reading out of order, check out Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas Volume 1.
